What's the story

Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda recently revealed that he had to decline the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Laxman Utekar's Chhaava. Hooda couldn't take up the project due to his commitments to his own directorial, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. The movie starred Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Akshaye Khanna eventually played Aurangzeb.

Decision factors

'So much Hindu-Muslim going on...'

Hooda told Zoom, "I love Laxman as a person and as a director. He'd come to me for Aurangzeb in Chhaava, and I was very underweight." "I had my head shaved. I had just stopped shooting for Savarkar, and I was doing the [post-production]." "I was going through an IP court case, and I had so much Hindu-Muslim thing going on in the whole narrative, and I just did not want to go down that street."

Future endeavors

Hooda's upcoming projects

Despite missing out on Chhaava, Hooda is looking forward to his role in Eetha, a biopic on Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The film is directed by Utekar and also stars Shraddha Kapoor. Apart from these projects, he will be seen in Operation Khukri and Laal Rang 2. He also recently wrapped up filming for Matchbox: The Movie with John Cena and Jessica Biel.
