What's the story

National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty is gearing up for his next big project, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Originally announced as a standalone film, the project has now been expanded into a two-part theatrical saga, reported Variety India. The first part is slated for a 2028 release, with the second part following in 2029.

Filming details

Film to be shot extensively in Maharashtra

The film, directed by Sandeep Singh, is reportedly being made on a budget of over ₹500 crore. A major part of the film will be shot in Maharashtra, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj founded his kingdom, and many key events in his life took place. The team is expected to begin filming after Shetty wraps up his current project Jai Hanuman, helmed by Prashanth Varma.

Career progression

Shetty's lineup for the next few years

After the success of Kantara, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor, Shetty's career is on an upward trajectory. He will next be seen in Jai Hanuman in 2027, followed by the two parts of The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It's one of the most ambitious Hindi adaptations of the Maratha ruler's life. Further details about the supporting cast, technical team, and the official announcement of the revised release plan are awaited.
