What's the story

Actor Sai Pallavi is reportedly in talks to headline the biopic of legendary Carnatic vocalist and cultural icon, MS Subbulakshmi. The film will be produced by Geetha Arts and will explore the pioneering singer's significant contributions to Indian classical music. However, no official confirmation has been made by either Geetha Arts or Pallavi yet.

Acclaimed director Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for films like Malli Raava and Jersey, is reportedly being eyed to helm the project. Notably, Geetha Arta previously collaborated with Pallavi on Thandel. It's known for movies such as The Girlfriend, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Magadheera, and Ghajini, among others.

Subbulakshmi, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 88, was the first musician to receive India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna. She also won the Ramon Magsaysay award in 1974 and became the first Indian musician to perform at the United Nations General Assembly in 1966.
