'Went door-to-door': Suresh Oberoi 'struggled' for Vivek's Bollywood debut
What's the story
Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi recently revealed the lengths he went to get his son, Vivek Oberoi, a break in Bollywood. Speaking on Nidhi Vasandani's YouTube channel, he shared, "I had to struggle for him again, went door to door." "Like I used to take my pictures, now I was taking Vivek's pictures." This was when Oberoi was working with director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV), who was looking for an actor for his film Company.
Audition process
Varma asked to see Vivek's tape
Oberoi recalled that Varma had asked to see Vivek's tape.
"He came home to watch that tape," Oberoi said, adding that RGV was immediately impressed.
This led to Vivek getting a pivotal role in the film Company, marking his Bollywood debut.
Notably, despite his father's struggles, Vivek had earlier claimed he got the role on his own merit and didn't use his family name in the industry.
Struggle and triumph
Vivek will next be seen in 'Ramayana'
Vivek had earlier told India Today, "I went everywhere as Vivek Anand. I went to [production] offices, waited for 6 to 10 hours in audition queues."
"After I said no to shooting my dad's production, it took me almost two years...before I got Company."
"And I was just proud that I made it on my own merit and talent."
He will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.
