Telangana HC puts brakes on 'Akhanda 2' ticket price hike

Entertainment

Just before its big release, "Akhanda 2: Thaandavam" hit a legal speed bump.
The Telangana High Court has stopped the government's plan to raise ticket prices and allow pricey premiere shows, following a petition from lawyer Srinivas Reddy.
This means the special ₹600 premieres set for Thursday evening are off, and the film's global release on December 12 faces some last-minute changes.

What happens to sold-out tickets and extra revenue?

Premiere tickets had already sold out before the court stepped in.
The original plan was to bump up prices by ₹50 at single screens and ₹100 at multiplexes for the first three days, with some of that money going to the Movie Artistes Welfare Association.
Now, there are questions about refunds for those who bought tickets early and how this decision will impact both fans and the film's stars—Nandamuri Balakrishna, Samyuktha, and Aadhi Pinisetty.
