Vaibhav Chandra Mishra arrested over extortion threats to Bollywood actors
Vaibhav Chandra Mishra, a 30-year-old unemployed engineer, has landed in Crime Branch custody until November 10 after allegedly posing as an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and sending extortion threats to Bollywood actors.
Police have seized his devices to dig into how he got celebrity contact information and whether he is actually linked to the gang.
Demanded 5cr from Tusshar Kapoor
Mishra reportedly demanded ₹5 crore from Tusshar Kapoor through an audio clip and messaged Ayushmann Khurrana on Instagram.
Khurrana reported the matter to the police, who tracked Mishra down by his IP address and arrested him with help from local police.
Investigators are also checking how many actors Mishra threatened and whether the audio clip sent to Kapoor had the voice of alleged Bishnoi gang operative Anil Pandit.
