Vicky Kaushal to quit alcohol, non-veg for 'Mahavatar'?
What's the story
Chhaava star Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for another epic project. He will soon collaborate with Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik for a film on Chiranjeevi Parashurama's life. Titled Mahavatar, the actor is reportedly planning to quit alcohol and non-vegetarian food ahead of this movie. A source told Bollywood Hungama that both Kaushal and Kaushik have decided to do so "to ensure complete focus and dedication to the film."
Production timeline
'Mahavatar' to go on floors in 2026
The source added, "A film like Mahavatar requires complete focus, and the duo have decided to give it all to make it a pure spectacle for the cinema-going audience." "They have decided to quit non-veg food and will start their prep for the film with a grand pooja ceremony toward the middle of next year." The report also states that Mahavatar will go on floors toward the end of 2026 and is likely to be released in theaters in 2028.
Role preparation
Kaushik already on a strict diet
The insider added that while Kaushik has already given up these food habits, Kaushal will do so after wrapping up Love And War. "It's his way of showing respect to the part of Lord Parashurama." Currently, Kaushik is in the pre-visualization phase for Mahavatar while Kaushal is busy with Love And War. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has been delayed and is likely to miss its Eid 2026 release.
Co-star's preparation
Ranbir also following strict diet for 'Ramayana'
Interestingly, Kaushal's co-star in Love And War, Ranbir Kapoor, has also decided to quit alcohol and non-veg for his upcoming film Ramayana. In September this year, it was reported that he is following a strict sattvic diet, working out early in the morning, and meditating to get into character. The first part of Ramayana comes out on Diwali 2026.
