Acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam is reportedly gearing up for his next project with actors Vijay Sethupathi and Rukmini Vasanth. The film will be a reunion for the director and Sethupathi after their 2018 action drama Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. As per Times Now, if true, this will also be Sethupathi's second collaboration with Vasanth, following their recent project Ace, which also marked Vasanth's Tamil debut.

The upcoming film is said to be a love story, though no further details have been revealed. Earlier, there were reports that Ratnam was considering Dhruv Vikram and Vasanth for his next project. However, the latest news suggests Sethupathi and Vasanth are the final choices. Fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement from the makers. Vasanth was recently seen in Kantara: Chapter 1 with Rishab Shetty and is currently busy shooting for Jr NTR's NTR 31.

Sethupathi, meanwhile, was last seen in Thalaivan Thalaivii opposite Nithya Menen. He has Mysskin's Train and an untitled movie with Puri Jagannadh in the pipeline. The actor is also hosting the ninth season of Bigg Boss Tamil. Ratnam, on the other hand, recently directed Kamal Haasan in Thug Life which released in June to a lukewarm response.
