Why Sayani Gupta didn't watch 'Delhi Crime' before joining cast
What's the story
Sayani Gupta, who recently joined the cast of the International Emmy-winning Netflix series Delhi Crime 3, has revealed that she hasn't watched any previous seasons of the show. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, she explained her reasoning behind this decision and shared her experience of working on such a globally acclaimed project.
Cast dynamics
'I was excited to join a team...'
Gupta, who plays Kusum in the series, admitted to feeling both excited and intimidated about joining an established cast. "It's season three for a couple of them from the cast. I was excited to join a team; it's a lot of fun," she said. However, she also acknowledged that her co-stars already had an established chemistry and dynamic from previous seasons.
Emotional impact
Gupta avoided 'Delhi Crime' due to emotional intensity
Gupta confessed that she didn't watch the first season when it was released because the case it was based on, the Nirbhaya case, was too emotionally intense for her. "When Delhi Crime one came out, everyone sort of loved the series, but you know the case was... even now, when I think about it, I feel extremely scared and triggered and all of those things," she said.
Personal choice
'I didn't have the stomach to watch it, honestly'
Gupta further explained her decision not to watch the show. "I didn't watch it because I knew I'd be triggered and I didn't ever dare to go through it. I didn't have the stomach to watch it, honestly." Despite this, she had a great time playing her character in Season 3 and found everyone on set was supportive and positive despite the serious nature of their work. Delhi Crime Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
