Emraan-Yami's 'Haq' cleared with zero cuts in 5 countries
What's the story
The upcoming film Haq, starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, has been cleared for release in five countries with zero cuts. The Suparn Verma movie is set to hit theaters on Friday, November 7. It has received a UA certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India and has also been approved by censor boards in the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK without any cuts.
International approval
Film certified in India as UA 13+
Trade expert Taran Adarsh took to X to announce that Haq has been certified UA 13+ by CBFC on October 28. In the UAE, it has been certified PG15; while in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand it has been certified PG. This means that the film is fit for unrestricted public exhibition, but parental guidance is recommended for children under 13 (in India) and 15 (in the UAE).

Speaking with Times Now, Gautam revealed that no cuts were made in Haq for its release in the UAE. She said, "This is the first time I am sharing ki is film ko UAE mein in terms of censorship there are no cuts and it is 15 plus." Verma took to his Instagram Story to announce no-cut verdict as well. The film also stars Sheeba Chaddha, Aseem Hattangady, DJ Henaary, Danish Husain, Rahul Mittra, and Vartika Singh.
Film's inspiration
Inspired by landmark Supreme Court judgment
Haq is set in 1980s India and is inspired by the landmark Supreme Court of India judgment in Shah Bano vs. Ahmed Khan. The film tells the story of Shazia Bano, whose world falls apart when her husband Abbas abandons her and their three children after marrying a second time. The movie explores themes of family, religion, justice, faith, identity, and law including the Uniform Civil Code under Article 44 of the Indian Constitution.
