Yami-Emraan's 'Haq' faces legal trouble over 'distorted' facts
The upcoming film "Haq," starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, has run into legal trouble just before its November 7 release.
Shah Bano's family has asked the Madhya Pradesh High Court to halt the film, saying it uses her life story without consent and misrepresents key facts.
Family turns petition against film
Siddiqua Begum (Bano's daughter) filed the petition.
Her grandson Jubair Ahmad Khan shared that "a lot of facts in the teaser are distorted," and called out filmmakers for turning a private family matter into a commercial project without permission.
Case's significance and film's focus
"Haq" is inspired by Shah Bano's landmark 1985 Supreme Court case, which set a precedent for maintenance rights of divorced Muslim women in India.
While this case is historic, her family worries that the movie could twist how people remember what really happened.
Family hopes story is not misrepresented
The family has criticized the teaser, saying it distorts facts and downplays Bano's struggle.
With these concerns, her family hopes the true story is not misrepresented on screen.
