Zinta permitted to sue Google and Meta over AI deepfakes

Bollywood star Preity Zinta just got the go-ahead from the Bombay High Court to sue Google and Meta.
She's taking them on over AI-generated deepfake videos, altered images, memes, and chatbot personas that she says misuse her image and personality rights and violate copyright law.
Court grants Zinta local filing permission
Zinta's move follows a wave of Indian celebrities fighting back against digital misuse: think Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty.
Her lawyer says this kind of content is being shared worldwide, hurting her reputation and goodwill.
Since some sites are based outside Mumbai, the court gave her special permission to file locally.
