Ahmedabad crash: Udaipur siblings joined family trade
On June 12, 2025, Air India flight AI171 crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad, on its way to London. There were 242 people on board, including 230 passengers, 2 pilots, and 10 cabin crew members. Among them were Shubh and Shagun Modi—siblings from Udaipur who had just joined their family's marble business and were headed for a vacation.
Flight carried mostly Indians, plus British, Canadian, Portuguese travelers
Two more Udaipur locals, Vardi Chand Menaria and Prakash Menaria, both working as chefs in London, were also passengers. The flight carried people from several countries: mostly Indians (169), plus British nationals (53), one Canadian, and seven Portuguese travelers.
Air India has set up a hotline for loved ones
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has offered condolences and promised state support for affected families. The Indian government is handling the aftermath, while Air India has set up a hotline to help loved ones with information and updates.
