Air India pilots fly without valid licenses; DGCA probes
Two Air India pilots have been taken off flying duty after flying commercial flights without up-to-date licenses.
One co-pilot took off in an Airbus A320 despite failing a bi-annual Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) and Instrument Rating (IR) test, while a senior commander flew with an expired English Language Proficiency (ELP) license.
The aviation regulator, DGCA, has stepped in to investigate and wants answers from the airline.
DGCA seeks report from Air India
The DGCA is digging into how these lapses happened and has demanded a full report from Air India.
The airline has started disciplinary action against the two pilots and told all its crew to double-check their paperwork right away.
This comes after earlier warnings to Air India about keeping up with safety rules—so it's clear there's still work to do on following regulations.
