Al-Falah University founder sent to jail over money laundering case
India
Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, who founded Al Falah University, has been put in 14-day judicial custody by a Delhi court.
This follows his earlier 13-day detention with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over allegations of money laundering linked to terrorism.
The ED had some concerns about the timing of his court appearance, but now he'll remain in custody until at least December 15.
What the ED uncovered
Investigators say Siddiqui falsely claimed top university accreditations, which helped him raise over ₹415 crore between 2018 and 2025.
The ED also alleges he misused student fees and found ₹48 lakh in cash during raids across Delhi-NCR.
The next hearing is set for mid-December.
