Ambarnath woman, 26, dies by suicide amid alleged harassment

Vishakha Tilkar, just 26 and about one-and-a-half months after her wedding, died by suicide in Ambarnath, Maharashtra.
Her family said she faced constant harassment from her husband, Dr. Nitin Tilkar, and his family over demands for money and gold.
They said he even installed CCTV cameras to keep an eye on her all the time.

According to Vishakha's family, she was physically abused, sometimes just for talking to neighbors, and confided in her mother about this.
Police arrested Dr. Tilkar for abetment to suicide and cruelty; police are trying to trace his mother, Chhaya Tilkar, and brother, Ninad Tilkar as investigations continue into the family's allegations of ongoing demands for valuables and mistreatment.
