Anand Prakash is an Indian security researcher who is widely known for finding bugs in various apps and websites. The Bengaluru-based researcher has unearthed and killed bugs in some of the world’s most popular apps. Prakash earns huge cash rewards from companies in exchange for hacking their systems and pointing out their security faults. He has detected flaws in companies like Uber, Facebook, and Twitter. Prakash has studied computer science at Tamil Nadu’s Vellore Institute of Technology. After completing his studies, he worked as a security engineer and penetration tester at Flipkart and other companies. In 2016, he set up AppSecure which is a security consultancy firm. He has helped over 400 companies become more secure. In 2017, Prakash killed a bug in the Uber app for which he received a cash prize of $5,000. In 2019, he bagged a cash prize of Rs. 4.6 lakh from Uber Technologies Inc. for disclosing the bug in their system. Prakash was ranked as one of the top bounty hunters on Facebook and Twitter ranked him on number three under their bounty program. Forbes also featured him in its ‘30 under 30’ list.
