Andhra Pradesh police take down top Maoist leader Madvi Hidma

India

Andhra Pradesh police just pulled off a major win by neutralizing Madvi Hidma, one of India's most wanted Maoist leaders, in Maradumilli.
The operation neutralized a total of 13 extremists, including Hidma.
Hidma was behind more than 23 deadly attacks and had managed to dodge arrest for years thanks to his guerrilla warfare skills.

Why this matters

Hidma wasn't just any member—he led a key battalion and shaped Maoist strategy in the Dandakaranya region.
With him gone, experts say the group could lose direction and unity, which might seriously weaken their operations going forward.
This marks a big shift in the ongoing fight against Maoist insurgency.
