Amit Malviya is a BJP politician and the national convener of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) IT cell. He gained prominence after forming a Facebook page titled, ‘Friends of BJP’ in 2009. An alumnus of Symbiosis International University, Malviya has worked in the banking sector across various positions. Before entering politics, Malviya has worked as an assistant manager at the ICICI bank, as a senior vice president at the HSBC bank, and as a vice president at the Bank of America. Known for his controversial tweets, in 2020, Twitter flagged one of Malviya’s tweets regarding the farmers' protest as ‘manipulated media.’ In 2020, he was appointed as the BJP co-in charge in West Bengal, ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
