Arvind Kejriwal is an ex-bureaucrat, social activist-turned-politician, and founding leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is the Chief Minister of the NCT of Delhi as of 2021. Kejriwal did his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and later joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) as Assistant Commissioner in the Income Tax Department in 1995. Kejriwal shifted towards social activism in the late 1990s, making heavy utilization of RTIs for activism against corruption in governments, Income Tax Department, MCD, and Public Distribution System (PDS), among others. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership in 2006 for his social work. He rose to national prominence through the 2010-12 Jan Lokpal Bill movement led by Anna Hazare. He launched the group India Against Corruption (IAC) with other leaders in 2011 and the AAP political party in 2012. Kejriwal contested the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections and formed a government with some Congress legislators' support, becoming Delhi's Chief Minister for the first time. He resigned in 2014 just after 49 days, alleging disruption by the Congress and BJP in running the government. However, Kejriwal led AAP to massive victories in the 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections, becoming a three-time CM of Delhi.
