Articles about Manish Sisodia
Manish Sisodia is an Indian politician from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). As of 2021, he is the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and holds several key portfolios in the Arvind Kejriwal government, such as Education, Finance, Services, Excise, GST, and Vigilance, among others. Sisodia was a journalist and a social activist before he entered politics. He had worked as a radio presenter at All India Radio and a journalist with Zee News. He later quit journalism to participate in the Right to Information (RTI) movement and was instrumental in drafting the RTI Act. Sisodia joined Kejriwal in the 2011 Anna Hazare-led Jan Lokpal Bill agitation. He was one of the founding members of AAP, established in 2012. He contested his first election in 2013 from Patparganj and went on to win a seat in the Legislative Assembly. Though AAP came into power and Kejriwal became Delhi’s Chief Minister in 2013, he resigned from the post in 2014, and President’s rule was imposed. Assembly polls were conducted again in 2014, and Sisodia was re-elected from Patparganj. He was then assigned major responsibilities like that of the Deputy Chief Minister and several other ministries. He is known for his insistence on enhancing the education system. In a historic move, as the Finance Minister, he allotted 25% of the state budget toward education in 2015 and every year since then. https://twitter.com/msisodia
