Election update
NDA leads in Bihar assembly election
The BJP-led NDA is leading in over 204 of the 243 seats, according to official leads. The alliance includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United). The BJP is leading in 95 constituencies, while JD(U) is ahead in 84. Union Minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) follows with leads from 20 seats, and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha from five.
Opposition status
Opposition Mahagathbandhan trails in Bihar assembly election
The opposition Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD, Congress, and Left parties, is leading in 49 seats. The RJD leads in 24 seats while Congress is ahead in just two. Both CPI(ML)(L) and CPM lead from one constituency. Poll strategist Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj initiative has also fallen behind after an ambitious debut.
