Chirag Paswan: News

Chirag Paswan, born on October 31, 1982, in Delhi, is a Member of the Parliament belonging to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). He is the son of late former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who founded the LJP in 2000. Before Paswan joined politics, he appeared in a Bollywood film, 'Miley Naa Miley Hum' (2011), opposite Kangana Ranaut. However, he later quit acting to join the party and held active positions in the LJP's local politics in Bihar. The ambitious Paswan eventually became the party's national president ahead of the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls when his father's health deteriorated. He first contested in the General Elections in 2014 from the Jamui constituency and won a seat in the Lok Sabha with a huge margin. However, the same resounding victory was not repeated in the 2019 LS polls as his party won only one seat in the Lok Sabha, which Paswan had retained from Jamui. He is the Founder and Director of Chirag Ka Rojgar, an NGO that provides jobs to the unemployed in Bihar.
