Haryana's air quality just hit worrying levels, with nine cities reporting AQI scores over 300: Ballabgarh topped the list at a staggering 397.
Gurugram and Bhiwani weren't far behind, and places like Hisar and Manesar are also struggling to breathe easy.
The situation has gotten so bad that authorities have rolled out Stage 3 restrictions across Delhi NCR to try to get things under control.
Over 5,600 farm fires since mid-September
Farm fires remain a major seasonal concern. Since mid-September, more than 5,600 farm fire incidents were reported across seven states and Union territories, including 80 in Haryana alone.
To fight back, dust-generating construction and demolition activities now face restrictions, and older vehicles face new limits in the region, all part of an urgent effort to clear the air.
