Situated in North India, Haryana was carved out of East Punjab on a linguistic basis in 1966. Chandigarh is the capital of this state along with Faridabad being the most populous city, and Gurgaon being the financial hub of Haryana. Haryana is one of the most economically developed states in the country with the third highest per capita income in India.
