Godrej to invest ₹20,000cr in Haryana, create 40,000 jobs

What's the story

Godrej Industries Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana government to invest ₹20,000 crore in the state. The investment is expected to create around 40,000 jobs. The MoU was signed in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. With this new investment plan, Godrej hopes to expand its operations and contribute significantly to Haryana's economy.

Godrej Properties to lead investment plans

Godrej Properties Limited (GPL) will spearhead the group's investment plans.

GPL has already invested around ₹11,000 crore in Haryana and plans to invest an additional ₹16,000 crore by FY28. This would bring its total investment in the state to some ₹27,000 crore.

The company currently has 18 projects across Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat, and Kurukshetra.

These future projects are expected to create over 11,000 jobs in Haryana.

Infrastructure investment

Godrej Ventures's commitment to Haryana

Godrej Ventures, the group's real estate private equity business, has invested around ₹1,000 crore in Haryana.

The company plans to invest another ₹3,500 crore in Grade A+ office infrastructure in Gurugram.

These investments are expected to create over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Pirojsha Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group, said that Haryana is an important growth driver for their group due to its economic depth and urbanization pace.

Community impact

Other Godrej group companies' presence in Haryana

Godrej Capital has five branches in Haryana and has booked around ₹550 crore through its lending business.

Meanwhile, Godrej Consumer Products has a network of 42 direct distributors and over 250 rural stockists across the state.

The group also spends around ₹1 crore annually on CSR activities and over ₹10 crore on infrastructure-level initiatives in Haryana.

These include strengthening safety nets for construction workers, providing weather insurance, and supporting restoration/beautification of public spaces in Karnal/Kurukshetra.
