Bareilly violence: Properties of Maulana's aides being razed
After violent protests broke out in Bareilly on September 26—where police faced stone-pelting—the city's development authority (BDA) has started demolishing properties tied to Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan's aides and associates.
The first to go was a marriage hall owned by Dr. Nafees Ahmed, one of Khan's aides, with officials citing illegal construction and encroachment.
Mobile internet suspended; 81 arrests made
Authorities are inspecting additional properties connected to Khan's aides and have hinted at further action, including possible sealing or demolition.
The Bareilly Municipal Corporation is also clearing unauthorized structures citywide.
To keep things calm during the crackdown, mobile internet was suspended from October 2-4.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 81 people so far—including IMC National General Secretary Nafees Khan and his son—alleging a wider conspiracy behind the unrest at the religious gathering.
