BCI co-chair Reddy seeks Mishra's resignation over nepotism, fund misuse
YR Sadasiva Reddy, co-chairman of the Bar Council of India (BCI), wants Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra to step down.
In a letter dated August 22, Reddy accused Mishra of favoring his own relatives for staff jobs and mishandling council funds.
He is pushing for an independent audit by a firm empanelled with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and a special meeting to sort things out.
Reddy seeks independent audit of BCI
Reddy is asking for a special audit of the accounts of the BCI and BCI Trust PEARL-First from the date of their registration and an independent audit by a firm empanelled with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and wants the complete staff position published on the BCI website and the audit report circulated and published.
YR Sadasiva Reddy believes Mishra stepping aside would help restore trust in the BCI, saying that remaining silent would amount to a failure of the trust placed in him by advocates.
