Bengaluru student admits to faking gang-rape claim against cab driver

A 22-year-old nursing student from Kerala, studying in Bengaluru, has admitted she made up a story about being gang-raped by a cab driver and others near Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal on December 2.
Her claims unraveled after police checked CCTV footage and WhatsApp messages, which showed the encounter was consensual and no one else was involved.

The cab driver, 33, was arrested after her complaint—but CCTV showed the two together for hours that night with no sign of other men.
WhatsApp chats revealed she stayed in touch with him even after the alleged incident.
When questioned further, she confessed to making up the story to explain scratch marks from her boyfriend.
Police are continuing their investigation into the false complaint.
