Big upgrades coming: Mumbai-Pune Expressway and more road projects announced

India

Major changes are on the way for Maharashtra's roads!
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari just announced a new Mumbai-Pune Expressway and a Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar expressway, with the first phase of the Mumbai-Pune route already approved.
These projects are among the road development works included in a massive ₹1.5 lakh crore plan approved for Maharashtra for the coming year.

Faster travel and better infrastructure ahead

The new Mumbai-Pune Expressway will stretch 130km, aiming to cut travel time between the cities to just 1.5 hours.
There's also a new Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar expressway in the works, which should bring that trip down to two hours.
Plus, Pune is set for nearly ₹50,000 crore in infrastructure upgrades—including an elevated corridor with roads, flyovers, and a metro line—so getting around is about to get way easier.
