Bihar election: 5 living voters marked dead in voter list
Just weeks before the Bihar Assembly elections, five real, living voters from Batsar village were surprised to find themselves marked as "dead" on the draft voter list.
The group—Mohan Sah, Sanjay Yadav, Ramroop Yadav, Narendra Kumar Das, and Vishnvar Prasad—quickly reached out to the Block Development Officer (BDO) on Friday, asking for their names to be restored.
The BDO has promised immediate correction.
Issues with voter list
This isn't just a one-off glitch—similar mistakes have popped up elsewhere, with some deceased people still on the rolls and many questionable entries.
With over 14 lakh suspected duplicate voters and 1.3 crore entries flagged for dodgy addresses, it's clear the voter list has big issues.
The Supreme Court is now involved, hearing petitions and issuing directions regarding mass deletions from the voter rolls.
With Bihar's 2025 elections happening on November 6 and 11, these errors could impact who actually gets to vote.
