BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj bids farewell to her father, Swaraj Kaushal

India

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj performed the last rites for her father, former Mizoram governor Swaraj Kaushal, by immersing his ashes in the Ganga at Brijghat, Hapur.
The ceremony followed his cremation in Delhi and was attended by family, officials, and well-wishers.
Kaushal passed away on December 4 at age 73 after a sudden illness.

Remembering Swaraj Kaushal

Swaraj Kaushal was not just a senior advocate but also India's youngest-ever governor.
At 34, he became Mizoram's Advocate General and played a big part in ending two decades of insurgency by helping draft the Mizoram Peace Accord.
He was married to late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and is survived by their daughter Bansuri, who continues his legacy in politics.
