Blank CD throws Rahul Gandhi's defamation trial off track

India

Rahul Gandhi's defamation case hit an unexpected snag in Pune court when a crucial CD—supposed to hold his London speech—turned out to be completely blank.
The case, filed by Satyaki Savarkar, centers on claims that Gandhi defamed freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during that speech.

Evidence troubles and next steps

After the blank CD surprise, the complainant's counsel tried to use a YouTube clip of the speech as evidence, but it was rejected since it didn't have the required legal certification.
Even two more CDs were dismissed.
Now, Kolhatkar has requested a judicial inquiry into how the CD ended up empty, and the trial has been pushed to Friday for further hearing.
