Born on January 9, 1965, Indian director and choreographer Farah Khan Kunder is amongst the leading choreographers of Bollywood, who has several awards and accolades under her belt. Born to stuntman-turned-filmmaker Kamran Khan, she entered Bollywood at a young age. She is the sister of film director and actor Sajid Khan and has been married to filmmaker Shirish Kunder. The couple has triplets through in vitro fertilization. She began her choreography career with the movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ in 1992, after Saroj Khan backed out from the movie. As of 2021, Khan has choreographed more than 80 dance routines. She made her directorial debut in 2004 with the movie ‘Main Hoon Na’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan and was a blockbuster hit. Following the success of her first movie, she directed ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), which was also critically lauded and commercially successful. As of 2021, she has directed at least four movies. She has also worked on international projects such as ‘Marigold: An Adventure in India’ (2007) ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and ‘Bombay Dreams.’ She is the recipient of six Filmfare Awards and the National Film Award. As of 2021, she has appeared in over six reality TV shows as a judge including the hit singing reality show ‘Indian Idol.’
