Amrita Rao: News

Amrita Rao stepped onto the big screen in 2002 and carved a place with her girl-next-door looks and charm. In 2011, renowned painter M.F. Hussain described her as his second muse. Rao had a traditional upbringing in Mumbai and has done some commendable work. A very private person by nature, Rao never publicly revealed her date of birth. Her aspirations as an actor began to take shape during her college days as she appeared in several commercials. She made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Ab Ke Baras.’ She received several nominations for her performance in the film. In 2003, she starred alongside Shahid Kapoor in ‘Ishq Vishq’ which earned her an IIFA and Stardust award. It was, however, her 2006 film ‘Vivah’ that etched her name in Bollywood. Rao later appeared in many widely acclaimed films such as ‘Main Hoon Naa,’ ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur,’ ‘Jolly LLB,’ etc., but she failed to match her early success. In 2016, she married her boyfriend Anmol in a secret ceremony and had a baby boy in November 2020.
