BMC is rolling out a smart parking project to tackle Mumbai's never-ending search for parking spots.
First mooted in 2020, the plan will bring all city parking spaces onto one digital platform, accessible through an app or website.
With ₹3 crore earmarked and a proposal to finalize a contractor due to be tabled, finding a spot could soon be as easy as checking your phone.
Mumbai tops metros at 2,300 vehicles/km
With car numbers shooting up (now at 2,300 vehicles per kilometer, the highest among Indian metros), parking has become a daily struggle.
BMC currently manages over 350 roadside and 26 off-street lots, but space is tight.
The new digital system aims to help you quickly find and reserve spots, cutting down on circling the block and easing traffic jams.
