Bombay High Court rejects plea against Maharashtra election

The Bombay High Court has rejected a petition trying to overturn the November 2024 Maharashtra Assembly election results.
The case, brought by a Mumbai resident and backed by advocate Prakash Ambedkar, claimed that over 75 lakh votes were cast after polls officially closed at 6pm.
After looking into it, the court said there was no real evidence of wrongdoing and backed the Election Commission.

Need solid proof to challenge election outcomes: Court

This decision basically says you need solid proof to challenge election outcomes—just raising doubts isn't enough.
The court pointed out that similar voting patterns happened in past elections but were never questioned.
By supporting the Election Commission, the ruling helps keep trust in how elections are run and addresses recent worries raised by some opposition leaders about fairness in Maharashtra's democracy.
