Calcutta High Court questions Red Road closure for Yoga Day

The Calcutta High Court is wondering why Kolkata's Red Road needs to be shut for a whole week (June 14-21) just for Prime Minister Modi's International Yoga Day event on June 21.
The court asked if Brigade Parade Ground could have worked instead, since closing Red Road messes up traffic and makes it tough for lawyers and staff to reach the High Court.
HC tells Kolkata Police alternate routes
To help out commuters and court staff, the court told Kolkata Police to set up alternative routes and clear Red Road quickly once the event wraps up.
The army is now part of the case, with another hearing scheduled for June 24.
