CBI arrests Haryana IAS Ram Kumar Singh in 79.46cr scam
Big news from Haryana: The CBI just arrested senior IAS officer Ram Kumar Singh for allegedly helping pull off a ₹79.46 crore scam.
While serving as Municipal Commissioner in Panchkula, Singh is accused of misusing government funds through shady bank transactions.
He's been suspended since April, and this arrest is a pretty major step in the investigation.
Singh linked to 504cr IDFC fraud
Turns out, this case is part of an even bigger ₹504 crore fraud hitting several government departments.
According to the CBI, Singh entered into a criminal conspiracy with officials of IDFC First Bank and handed over multiple signed cheques through intermediaries on the pretext of creating fixed deposits, making him the first Haryana-cadre IAS officer nabbed for this scheme.
So far, charges have been filed against 17 accused including bank staff and other officials, and investigators have found incriminating papers at Singh's homes while they keep digging into where all the money went.
