CBI charges Indians for UAE, Bahrain murders

The CBI has charged two Indians, Subhash Chander Mahla and Inder Jit Singh, for separate murders committed overseas.
Mahla is accused of killing his Bahraini employer, Mohammed Sultan Al-Motawa, in 2011 and stealing money, while Singh allegedly stabbed Rama Lingam Natesan in Abu Dhabi back in 2008 over an unpaid debt of just AED 300.

TL;DR

Details of the cases

Both men face murder charges under Indian law since extradition treaties with Bahrain and the UAE don't allow sending nationals back for trial.
The CBI filed its chargesheets—Mahla's on 28 April 2022 and Singh's on 17 June 2025—after getting evidence from foreign authorities.
Interestingly, Singh was sentenced to death by an Abu Dhabi court (in absentia), but the UAE has asked India to handle his trial instead.
Neither Mahla nor Singh has been arrested so far; both have cooperated with the investigation.
