CJI Gavai retires: Reflects on justice, equality, and key judgments

Chief Justice B.R. Gavai wrapped up his time at the Supreme Court with a heartfelt farewell, where he spoke about some of his biggest judgments.
He stood firmly against "bulldozer justice," saying that tearing down homes just because someone's accused of a crime goes against basic rights and fairness.
He also highlighted his work on job reservations for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, quoting Dr. Ambedkar to remind everyone that true equality isn't about treating everyone exactly the same.

Career rooted in Ambedkar's values

Throughout his career, CJI Gavai focused on justice, equality, and protecting the environment—like saving Pune's forests and the Aravali Hills.
He played a big role in appointing over 100 High Court judges through teamwork.
