Coimbatore doctor M. Vignesh arrested for alleged 900 sovereigns theft
India
A 30-year-old doctor from Coimbatore, M. Vignesh, has been arrested after his father-in-law accused him of stealing about 900 sovereigns of jewelry, worth several crores, from a locker and bureau at his residence, the keys of which he had entrusted to him.
Vignesh got access to the jewelry after marrying into the family in 2024, but things took a turn when most of it went missing.
Returned 100 sovereigns, relatives face charges
When asked about the missing gold, Vignesh reportedly returned just 100 sovereigns and even threatened his father-in-law when pressed for more.
The police have also named his mother and sister as co-accused.
All three now face criminal breach of trust charges, and investigators are still digging into what happened to the rest of the jewelry.
