FIR against publisher of controversial CBSE textbook

What's the story

An FIR was registered in Preet Vihar Police Station in Delhi against the publisher of a controversial CBSE textbook that said the ideal figure for a woman was 36-24-26. The publisher, New Saraswati House (India) Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi has been booked for indecent representation of women. The textbook in question is the class-12 'Health and Physical Education' textbook by Dr. V.K. Sharma.

CBSE: Did not recommend textbook

The CBSE has clarified that it did not recommend the textbook in question for any school's syllabus. The board said that the book in question inappropriately described aspects of physical health which were not in context or consonance with their syllabus. The CBSE added that it does not recommend textbooks by private publishing houses for any of its affiliated schools.
