Crisil: Iran conflict cuts India's refined sunflower oil 10% FY2027
India
India's cooking oil supply just got messier thanks to the ongoing Iran conflict.
With sunflower oil imports from Ukraine and Russia taking a hit and shipping costs climbing, Crisil Ratings says we'll see a 10% drop in refined sunflower oil in FY2027.
To cope, many may switch to more affordable options like rice bran and soybean oils.
March India cooking oil prices surge
Sunflower oil prices have shot up from ₹130 to ₹185 per liter in March, and palm oil isn't far behind, jumping from ₹117 to ₹160 per liter in March.
This squeeze is toughest on low- and middle-income families, but refiners expect their profits to hold steady thanks to earlier stockpiling and smart pricing moves, even as demand dips.
