Cyclone Shakti: IMD issues weather alerts for several states

Heads up—Cyclone Shakti is rolling in, and the IMD has put out weather alerts for Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu from October 3 to 7, 2025.
North Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh are also on watch for heavy to very heavy rainfall during these days.

Red alerts in these districts

Red alerts are out for Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar in the Sub-Himalayan region, with extremely heavy rain expected.
Mumbai and Thane could see wind speeds up to 65km/h and rough seas until October 5.
Chennai and Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu are likely to get hit with moderate to heavy showers too.
