Delhi overall AQI 'very poor'; 'severe' in many areas

Delhi's air quality has plunged into the "very poor" category, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 384 on Friday. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data revealed that multiple monitoring stations across the city recorded AQIs above 400. The 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 377 on Thursday, compared to 327 on Wednesday, 352 on Tuesday, and 382 on Monday.

Delhi's air quality forecasted to remain 'very poor'

Mundka recorded the highest pollution level in the city, with an AQI of 436. Rohini was close behind with an AQI of 432. Anand Vihar (408) and Jahangirpuri (420) also stayed at the "severe" level. Of the 39 monitoring stations in the city, 19 recorded pollution levels that were "severe." Bawana (414), Chandni Chowk (407), Narela (407), JLN Stadium (401), Burari (402), Ashok Vihar (417) and Aya Nagar (402).

Noida, Gurugram AQI 

Neighboring Noida fared no better. It recorded an AQI of 404, placing it in the 'severe' category, while Greater Noida and Ghaziabad recorded 'very poor' air quality, with AQIs of 377 and 350, respectively. Gurugram and Faridabad performed relatively better. Two stations in Gurugram recorded 'poor' air quality, while two reported very poor air quality. Only one station in Faridabad reported poor air quality, while all other monitoring stations recorded moderate AQI levels.

The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi had earlier predicted that air quality in the national capital would remain in the very poor category from November 26 to 28. For Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies and foggy conditions in the national capital. The minimum temperature is projected to be 8-10 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius.
