Delhi government to launch 'School Safety Campaign' on November 25

India

Starting November 25, Delhi schools are getting a big push for disaster safety.
The government and NDMA are rolling out a campaign to help over 2,000 schools get better prepared for emergencies—think earthquake drills, safety tips, and hands-on activities—all as part of the "School Contact Programme" that kicked off last month.

What's happening in schools?

The campaign runs until mid-January 2026 and covers 2,082 schools.
Each school will have a two-day disaster management module with films, discussions, and practical drills.
Every day kicks off with "Vande Mataram" and a safety pledge. About 70 schools join in daily.
Deputy directors of education will coordinate with Delhi Disaster Management Authority officials, and by January 20 next year, every school must share what they did—photos included—to keep things transparent and make sure everyone's learning how to stay safe.
