Delhi High Court questions MLA MP recommendation for 'Lakshmi Yojana'

Delhi High Court wants to know why women applying for the Lakshmi Yojana need a recommendation from an MP or MLA.
The scheme, launched this year, offers ₹2,500 a month to eligible women aged 21 to 60 from families earning up to ₹2.5 lakh annually.
Some petitioners say this rule gives politicians too much control and turns a welfare program into "political patronage."
Government defends rule, lists exclusions
The government defended the rule, saying other states have similar requirements.
There are also exclusions (like income-tax payers, government employees, families with more than three kids, and four-wheeler owners, aren't eligible).
The next hearing is set for October 17.
