Delhi, Mumbai airports could see huge fee hike—Here's why

Big news for travelers: The government is backing India's airport regulator (AERA) in a Supreme Court battle against the operators of Delhi and Mumbai airports over a ₹50,000 crore dispute.
At the heart of it is how airport costs are calculated—a decision that could seriously impact what you pay as a passenger.

What's at stake? Your ticket fees might jump

If the court sides with the airport operators, passenger charges could shoot up—think Delhi's user fee going from ₹129 to ₹1,261 and Mumbai's from ₹175 to a whopping ₹3,856.
The fight goes back to 2006 over which assets should count in cost calculations.
The Supreme Court will hear both sides on December 3.
