Delhi NGO worker, colleague assaulted in Rayagada after wrong route
A woman from Delhi and her male colleague, she works for an NGO, were attacked by a mob in Rayagada, Odisha after locals wrongly suspected them of being child lifters.
The confusion started when they were navigating with the help of Google Maps and reportedly took a wrong route into the area.
Woman recounts 12km chase, assault
The woman said locals stopped their scooter and demanded ID, but didn't believe them even after they showed proof.
Trying to leave, they were chased for nearly 12km before being caught by a large crowd at Sairamnagar.
She shared that the mob dragged her by her hair, beat her up, tore her clothes, and assaulted her colleague.
Police rescue victims, cases registered
Police eventually rescued both and took them to the Kalyansinghpur Community Health Centre for treatment.
After more trouble at the hospital, senior officials got involved.
Authorities have registered multiple cases and assured that everyone responsible will be held accountable.
